The Fall/Winter 2016 season bring back a texture we seamed to forgot in the past years: the velvet. Everything this season will be covered in velvet, from dresses, to blazers and trousers, lingerie or chokers. Misterious, sexy, glam and uber-trendy, the must have pieces of the season have at least a touch of velvet.
While the main problem with this texture is that it really needs to be high quality, otherwise it will probably look cheap – and we don’t want that , it also can make you look bigger than you actually are. So, to solve this issues and not give up on this lovely trend, I advice you to take a look at the velvet shoes on the market this season.
A pair of velvet shoes is just the item you need to embrace the fall trends, but also keep your usual style in place. They are also versatile, so you can mix them up with any outfit of your choice, because they go perfectly well in the day and in the night, from casual look to super elegant ones.
I personally love the velvet sandals, I this they work best with this noble and elegant texture. On the other hand, I also love slippers and loafers, which I can mix with a pyjama set for a casual look.
Of course you will find stilettos, 70’s inspired boots or over-knee boots, sneakers, all in velvet, you’ll be able to choose your favorite from a wide range of models.
In the end, because I’m really intro flats lately, I must show you this pair of velvet pointed flats by Paul Andres, in a perfect shade of dark blue. Aren’t they beautiful?
Anyway, whatever you will choose, I do advice you not to wear more than 1 piece of clothing in velvet in your outfit. It may look good on the catwalk, but It’s a little too much for every day life, no matter the occasion. Wear a pair of velvet shoes and mix it with denim, lace, silk, cotton, maybe even cashmere in the colder days, whatever you think it works for a stylish outfit.
PS: I think velvet shoes are here to stay, at least for the next 2 seasons so they just might be a good investment!
